ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Plant Safety Manager assists the Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Specialist and supports the Poplar Bluff plants by focusing on protecting and enhancing the safety of employees as well as the environment. This will be achieved through prevention, fostering a culture of caring, and focusing on our core values: Safety, Health and Environment. This individual takes a proactive approach and will lead health, safety, and environmental compliance, identify issues, recommend and implement solutions, gather results, and interact comfortably with operations/support functions.
This position works to ensure compliance of all EHS aspects of the site and sets local EHS strategies for overall success in alignment with corporate policy and common practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Plans, implements, and oversees approved Mid-Continent Steel & Wire/Deacero USA safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
- Creates site-specific procedures that support compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. (i.e. OSHA, USEPA, State EPA, Municipal). Maintains accurate records as required for these agencies.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure they comply with all federal, state, local regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
- Create and facilitate health & safety engagement through teams and committees needed to accomplish established targets and objectives.
- Perform job hazard assessments and recommend measures to control exposures, including the substitution of less hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE), work practice changes, and engineering controls.
- Prepare required reports, plans, and other government health & safety filings and ensure timely and accurate submission.
- Maintain injury files. Tracking of loss history for the Poplar Bluff operations i.e. near misses, first aid cases, PIT strikes, recordable
- Ensure required summary posting (300A) is present from February 1st to April 30th
- File and organize health & safety documents.
- Makes sure SDS sheets are updated and related employee training is provided.
- Ensure incident investigations occur and are documented to identify their causes and how they might be prevented in the future. Track action plans to completion.
- Conduct training & educate employees on a variety of topics, while remaining up to date with any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization (including emergency preparedness)
- Coordinates and leads the process of monthly safety inspections, as well as annual training requirements.
- Focus on continuous improvement to achieve improved health & safety performance.
- Coordinates and maintains relationships with outside vendors regarding all health & safety-related protocols and products.
- Ensure adequate follow-ups occur as a result of the annual hearing tests ex. retests occur, audiological questionnaires (if necessary), etc. and coordinate correspondence to employees of results for any follow-ups required.
- Develop and conduct site-specific drills related to EHS crisis and emergency response situations.
- Facilitate disaster preparedness and emergency action planning at all facilities.
- Oversee aspects of the site’s workers’ compensation claims.
- Lead the plant safety committee and ensures actions are tracked for the site through the company’s Safety Action Tracking System.
- Maintain the site’s EHS-related training records, prompting retraining as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or another related field GSP, ASP, or CSP preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry preferred
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Able and comfortable presenting to, or training, large groups of employees.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
- Skill in performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in developing safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
- 2+ years of proven experience administering Safety in a manufacturing setting preferred
- Possess proficient writing skills.
- Bilingual preferred: English & Spanish
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an outside Industrial Sales and Service Technician, who will be responsible for sales and service of existing customer accounts and creating new accounts within the pneumatic tools and fasteners segment of our business. This position does not require relocation but will require substantial travel and possible overnight stays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:
This position reports to the Industrial Direct Sales Manager and has the responsibility of sales and service of existing customer accounts and creating new business, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Promote Mid Continent Nail products and service to customers and prospects in an assigned territory.
- Maintain Mid Continent Nail tools provided to customers for use with our fasteners.
- Manage customer inventories at their locations and company inventory assigned to you and advise the corporate office of orders to be placed.
- Visit customers on a scheduled basis to address any concerns or issues and ensure our products and services are meeting their requirements.
- Installing and servicing tools used to drive or install fasteners and repair tools at customer facilities.
- Monitor pneumatic tool usage and condition to ensure Mid Continent property is accounted for and being used correctly.
- Document all inventory transactions into and out of your possession and process the required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Maintain a customer contact log, with necessary specifics, and submit it to your supervisor on a weekly basis.
- Perform any necessary training of customer personnel to facilitate the use of fasteners and tools
- Interface with corporate management, sales, service, and engineering to ensure proper customer service
- Create and deliver concise well-considered sales presentations to current and prospective customers
- Constantly prospect and seek new challenges in the industrial tool and fastener market
- Maintain and report activity via timely well-organized activity reports
- Setting, monitoring, and achieving sales and personal goals
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years’ experience in outside sales
- Mechanically proficient and comfortable with hand tools – preferred
- Background in industrial sales
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, preferably with pneumatically, electrically, or hydraulically driven fasteners
- Superior communication and people skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite of programs

DESCRIPTION
Mid Continent Steel & Wire based in Poplar Bluff MO is looking for OTR drivers. Our drivers know that we work hard every day to give them the best and treat them right. Our drivers consistently run 3000 miles per week year-round. We take the time to plan a drivers’ loads based on his available hours using our ELD system. For our drivers that means maximum paychecks.
We are the trucking division of a manufacturing company. For our drivers this means they are consistently delivering to the same locations. This also allows us to preplan for back hauls to help eliminate waiting time. And our drivers are home every week!
Our drivers are paid all miles, loaded and empty. We run a Prepass Elite which takes care of bypassing scales and paying for toll roads. We offer a $2000 sign on bonus that is paid out within 1 year. All 100% no-touch freight. We pay detention after 2 hours and we have breakdown pay.
We run excellent equipment. All 2016-2018 Freightliner Cascadias with automatic transmissions. All trucks have refrigerators and power inverters. We have a nationwide maintenance account where in case of a break down a sub unit is supplied within hours, which means no setting in a shop or motel waiting for a truck repair.
REQUIREMENTS
Class A CDL, 21 years old with verifiable driving experience.

Payroll and Compensation Specialist

Responsible for all aspects of Compensation and Payroll functions including but not limited to payroll management, compensation plans management, and HR report generation. This position also provides guidance on compensation & benefits to employees and managers.
The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and have a passion for people, and numbers and an analytic mindset. This person will perform a variety of complex duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of payroll and compensation data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Payroll
- Manage the payroll process and if necessary, process payroll using ADP. Including Time and Attendance, new hires, terminations, deductions, garnishments, direct deposit, PTO, bonus payments, etc.
- Guarantee that payroll and employee records are properly maintained in ADP.
- Coordinate weekly and monthly reports to management as required including overtime, payroll metrics, attendance, etc.
- Review payroll audit reports to identify potential discrepancies.
- Assist with the preparation of Federal and State tax documentation and other documentation required by various regulatory agencies
- Liaison with Shared Service Center in Mexico.
Compensation
- Oversee and assist in the salary budget review process and manage all communication with all departments and analyze all market requirements and participate in matching processes.
- Assist with the administration of annual bonus and merit cycle
- Participate in the development of compensation strategies and implement policies and programs.
- Participate in compensation surveys and perform regular compensation analysis.
- Supervise variable pay programs.
- Ensuring compensation and benefits plans are cost-effective and competitive
- Ensuring that the pay practices comply with state and federal laws and regulations
- Collaborate and work closely with managers to make compensation recommendations for job postings, promotions, and transfers.
- Maintain and update database of all job description according to standard functional areas and maintain and design various tools and templates for HR departments and ensure adherence to FLSA and equal pay.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in similar role handling payroll and compensation functions
- Knowledge of ADP Payroll Software
- Experience Participating in Mercer’s Salary Survey (TRS/MBD)
- Advanced excel and computer skills

- Bi-lingual in Spanish
